Major Matters Notary is not an attorney and by law, cannot provide legal advice or interpret the content of any documents for you. Any questions about your document should be addressed by the person who issued it to you or an attorney.

I am permitted to describe the content of your document (to a limited degree) to ensure it is complete before I notarize it. However, I am not authorized to explain why or what it means legally. Please do NOT signature any document ahead of your appointment with a notary. By law, the notary must witness your signature.

There are situations where a customer will need to take an oath or affirmation verbally. An oath is a solemn pledge to a Supreme Being whereas an affirmation is a pledge on your personal honor. You have the choice to decide which one you prefer to make if the situation calls for it.
